Brunch, Broadcast n' Grind

Last spring, PABJ had an idea to create an event that would be similar to a corporate brunch, an opportunity for knowledge, networking and of course, good food. We wanted to bring an event like this to the SUNY Plattsburgh campus for not only journalism and communications students but for the entire campus community and beyond. Many of the clubs on campus have banquets and fashion shows and we wanted our organization to have a standout event as well. The idea that became Brunch, Broadcast n' Grind was born.

The inaugural brunch took place on October 27th, 2018 in the Warren Ballrooms in the Angell College Center on our campus. Ayana Harry from Pix11 News in New York City traveled to our campus to share insights into her career as a field reporting covering the 2012 Sandy Hook massacre in Connecticut and the June 2018 killing of Lesandro Guzman-Feliz in the Bronx. Ayana and PABJ's event planner, Jayah Arnett, discussed the broadcast news industry, Ayana's path into journalism and what journalism students can do while in college to advance their career goals.
